🏥 County Care, Academic Power
At Harbor-UCLA, we deliver high-acuity emergency care to Los Angeles’ most vulnerable patients—while training and leading at the forefront of academic emergency medicine. We are a Level 1 Adult Trauma Center and Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, serving as a regional hub for critical care and specialty services.
📚 Residency & Fellowship Training
Our nationally respected 4-year EM residency offers hands-on, high-volume training in trauma, resuscitation, ultrasound, and care for underserved populations. We also offer fellowships in Administration, Ultrasound, Medical Education, and Research.
🚨 Clinical Innovation & Growth
- We recruited our first EM-Critical Care Faculty expanding advanced resuscitation and ICU transitions
- The Prehospital Blood Program launched in 2025—Harbor led the way in implementing blood transfusions for unstable Trauma patients before they transport to the ED
- In progress: designation as an eCPR Center and Stroke Receiving Center
- “Cool” Case: In early 2025, Harbor completed its first successful ED ECMO case using TEE-guided cannulation in a severely hypothermic patient. The patient survived to discharge—a major milestone for our emerging eCPR program
- Harbor EM led a new military-civilian partnership bringing Navy EM physicians and staff to rotate at our department improving Trauma resuscitation skills before deployment to combat zones.
