Harbor-UCLA Medical Center EM Visiting Student Scholarship 2025-26

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is committed to recruiting and training individuals who reflect the diverse patient populations we serve and who aspire to become leaders and advocates in their communities.

Guided by our mission—to provide innovative, equitable, value-based, patient-centered emergency medical care —we strive to help develop physicians and leaders dedicated to advancing inclusion, social and structural determinants of health, health equity, and social justice. 

In support of this mission, we are pleased to offer financial assistance to visiting fourth-year medical students applying for a sub-internship in our Emergency Department who demonstrate financial need, a commitment to health equity, service, and leadership, and plan to pursue a career in emergency medicine. We are recruiting applicants with connections to the vulnerable communities we serve, and from a variety of diverse backgrounds (including race, gender, socioeconomic status, ability etc). To help offset travel and lodging expenses, scholarships will be $1000 and $2000 for those completing two-week ultrasound and four-week EM clerkships, respectively.  

Eligibility: 

    •    Fourth year medical students who are historically underrepresented in the medical field, first generation students to college, and/or students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds

    •    Must be in good academic standing at an accredited U.S. medical school 

    •    Plan to match into Emergency Medicine

*Receiving a scholarship and rotating with us will guarantee an interview with our residency, but does not guarantee a position. Funds will be awarded on completion of the elective. Receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.
