The Ultrasound Fellowship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is well established and has been training fellows since 2002. In 2020, we combined forces with our sister sites at Ronald Reagan, Olive View, and the West LA VA, to form a brand new UCLA-Affiliated Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship. You may visit our sister site uclaemultrasound and find us on X (previously Twitter) @UCLAcus.
To prepare our fellows to become successful leaders in clinical emergency medicine ultrasonography by providing comprehensive training, academic mentorship, and abundant opportunities for faculty development in a variety of clinical settings, all supported by university (UCLA) resources. It is also our mission to uphold the highest standards of practice, education, and academic investigation in clinical ultrasonography for the betterment of our patients, trainees, and medical specialty.
UCLA-Affiliated Clinical Ultrasound Fellows
The curriculum follows the Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship Program requirements by the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council. During fellowship training, fellows must perform a minimum of 1,000 exams, pursue directed reading, lead weekly journal clubs, participate in weekly didactics, and experience the many aspects of ultrasound teaching and administration.
A scholarly project is required during the fellowship. An ultrasound fellow has a wide variety of teaching opportunities involving trainees from the medical student to the faculty level.
